A Bit About Me
I’m Daniel Car, professional writer and editor. I graduated from RMIT’s Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing in 2021 and edited my first short stories as a professional editor that same year. In 2022 I continued my creative education with the Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing) at RMIT, graduating in 2024. I’m equipped with the latest in editing knowledge, and am very, very excited to give my best work.
My favourite authors include:
Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking)
Haruki Murakami (Kafka on the Shore)
Ted Chiang (Exhalation)
Anne Rice (Interview with the Vampire)
Inio Asano (Goodnight Punpun)
Melbourne through and through, I’ve never been able to get enough of (or give enough back to) this creative city. I am so thankful to have found a way of turning my passion for words and writing into a profession, and to have had the guidance I did at RMIT through both the teachers, guest lecturers and, of course, my fellow students.

Since 2024, I have undertaken editing on self-published manuscripts as The Write Stuff Editing.
I was judge for the 2024 Robert N Stephenson Award in the Short Fiction category.
In 2024 I graduated from RMIT’s Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing) with a minor in popular culture.
I worked as a freelance English editor for academic publisher MDPI.
From 2022–23 I worked as part of the editing team at Shawline Publishing.
I also judged for the 2023 AHWA Flash Fiction and Short Story Competition.
In 2022 I edited a really cool project with Eastern Regional Libraries: Tales from the Pandemic.
I also judged for the 2022 Robert N Stephenson Flash Fiction and Short Story Competition, and am eternally thankful for the opportunity in 2022 to intern at Busybird Publishing.
I edited four separate pieces in the 2021 anthology Rise. I have also had my own short stories featured in various publications. I impressed my mentor as a proofreading intern with Pearson.
I was also a judge for the 2021 Australian Shadows Awards for both the Long Fiction and Short Fiction categories.
